Tax Classification Hearing

In Accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 40, Section 56.  The Select Board of the Town of Mansfield, MA will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 3A/B, Mansfield Town Hall, Six Park Row, Mansfield, MA. The purpose of the hearing is to adopt the percentages of the local tax levy to be borne by each class of real and personal property for Fiscal Year 2022.

The Select Board has established a Split Tax Rate for Fiscal Year 2021

  • Residential: $15.36
  • Commercial, Industrial, Personal Property: $22.58
  • Valuation for Real Estate: $ 4,029,886,828
  • Valuation of Personal Property: $112,009,920
  • Total Taxable Value: $4,141,896,748

Tax Abatement Procedures

The Fiscal Year (FY) 20201deadline for applications for abatement on Real and Personal Property under MGL Chapter 59, Section 59, must be received in the Assessor’s Office by February 1, 2021

Statutory Clause Exemption

Statutory Clause Exemptions deadline for FY 2022 is April 1, 2022

  • Establishing Real and Personal Property Valuation
  • Identify Municipal Lien Certificates
  • Process Abatement Requests for Excise Tax
  • Process Abatement Requests for Real Estate and Personal Property
  • Process Exemptions for Real Estate (Elderly, Veteran, Blind, Surviving Spouse, Financial Condition)
  • Provide Monthly Reports to the Treasurer and Town Accountant for Above-Listed Services
